This month marks 10 years since Kolderstok modelling was registered as a company, with the first version of our website coming online. Since then, we have not been idle.
Everything started with the construction of the Batavia, based on drawings I had acquired at the time (late 2012) through the Batavia Yard. After I finished this ship, I began to wonder why there were no wooden model kits for it, and why there were so few model building kits for 17th century Dutch ships available. A plan began to form in my head: why not design a kit myself? After a long period of mostly research, I was able to complete the first boxes in mid-2015. On 23 June 2015 the first 12 Batavia boxes were ready to be despatched to the first subscribers.
We are now 10 years on, and the collection of Dutch 17th century ships has expanded significantly. The Kolderstok website is viewed worldwide, and the boxes have been sent all over the globe, just as the Dutch sailed all over the world in the 17th century.
We do not plan on celebrating this 10-year anniversary extensively, but we will certainly not let it go unnoticed: we will offer a 10% discount on all Kolderstok models during July and August. The prices on the website will be adjusted at the beginning of July, so the discount is applied immediately when ordering.
However, we are also going on holiday during the first half of July. You can order as normal, but your order will not be processed until the 14th of July at the earliest.
