The 17th century Fluytschip - now available!

The newest model in the Kolderstok series is now available: the 17th century Fluytschip or Flute. It took us quite some time to get everything together, but the model has been added to the list of Kolderstok ships. Once built, the Fluytschip is about 60 cm long and 55 cm high. It is designed in scale 1 to 72. There's two ways this model is different from previous models in our collection:
  • the ornaments on the transom are fully 3D designed and printed on a high-resolution resin printer. A very high level of accuracy is achieved with this.
  • the construction method closely resembles the way it was done in the 17th century. An oak framework is placed on a base frame of MDF, after which the hull planking is applied from the keel upwards. The hull planking is made of basswood and has already been laser-cut into the right shape. After removing the MDF base, a completely hollow hull remains to be built up further.
From the contents in the box you can choose to make the model as a logger or as a whaler. The model includes (DIY) sails, and two small boats are included as kits. The typical pear shaped back of the hull, the construction method and the amount of customizability result in a difficulty level of 4 on a scale of 4. Optional accessories can be ordered, such as a paint and stain set. The package is delivered with a standard oak stand. A luxury version as can be deliverd for the other models will become available later. You can order through this link:
